Attorney Mark Stevens practices in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. His practice is devoted entirely to criminal trials and appeals. He has successful experience defending clients accused of DWI, Aggravated DWI, OUI , "Boating While Intoxicated", charges of controlled drug possession, assault, theft, bank robbery, shoplifting, resisting arrest, operating after suspension, commercial driver's license ("CDL") hearings, and habitual offender certification and decertification hearings. He has successfully represented clients at parole hearings who were sentenced on assault, rape, OUI, and murder charges.

Attorney Stevens has received not guilty verdicts on Aggravated DWI charges involving alleged breath test readings of .31, .29, .25, .24 and .23, and blood test cases with blood test results of .25, .23, .20 and .19. He has also achieved numerous other victories in breath and blood test cases, assaults, resisting arrest, drug charges, underage alcohol charges and numerous other criminal and motor vehicle charges. He has won administrative license suspension hearings at the New Hampshire Department of Safety on charges ranging from speeding tickets to manslaughter.

In 2015 he was selected as a New England Super Lawyer in the field of DUI/DWI defense by Superlawyers.com. Attorney Stevens has obtained a perfect 10.0 AVVO rating (the highest attainable rating), every year since 2011 by avvo.com, the year those ratings began.

Attorney Stevens is also experienced in appeals and post-conviction proceedings. He has received concentrated appellate training, including federal appellate defense training and appeals and post-conviction training at the Massachusetts Committee for Public Counsel Services. Attorney Stevens obtained notable reversals of DWI convictions in the reported decisions of State v. Duffy (New Hampshire Supreme Court; reversing conviction for DWI due to violation of the defendant's Miranda rights), Commonwealth v. Ouellette (Massachusetts Appeals Court, reversing conviction for OUI-third offense due to violation of the defendant's due process rights during jury selection), and State v. Sharkey in the New Hampshire Supreme Court, in which he obtained a reversal of a DWI conviction (that carried a lifetime license loss) based on a violation of the defendant's Sixth Amendment right to effective assistance of counsel grounds.

In 2006 he obtained a reversal in the Massachusetts Appeals Court of a probation violation for failure to submit to random drug testing in the case of Commonwealth v. LaCreisha Edgerly. In 2011, he obtained the reversal of a Massachusetts conviction for Operating after an OUI revocation in Commonwealth v. Oscar Guzman, by successfully challenging the admissibility of Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle records on Sixth Amendment Confrontation Clause grounds. In 2009, Attorney Stevens won a federal appellate victory in the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals in the case of United States versus Richard Villar, in which he obtained the reversal of a bank robbery conviction on the grounds that the defendant was deprived of his right to a fair trial and Due Process rights under the federal Constitution.

Attorney Stevens has taught continuing legal education (CLE) courses on DWI topics to other criminal defense lawyers in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. He has also received hundreds of hours in formal training in DWI and criminal defense related topics including breath testing, blood-testing and field sobriety testing. Attorney Stevens has been certified as a breath test operator and also certified to maintain and repair breath test machines. He has also been trained in the administration of "field sobriety testing" the same training received by the police officers who arrest citizens accused of driving while intoxicated. He has also completed the "Forensic Blood and Urine Testing" course in Atlanta Georgia, and the "Mastering Scientific Evidence in DWI Cases" in Dallas, Texas and in Atlanta, Georgia. He has completed specialized training in "Marine Field Sobriety Testing" (the "field sobriety testing" used by police in boating while intoxicated cases). He has been an invited speaker at police academies in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Attorney Stevens is the editor of A Practical Guide to Trying DWI Cases in New Hampshire, published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education ("MCLE"), Inc. Attorney Stevens is the editor of this 2010 New Hampshire DWI textbook and the chapter author for two of the chapters. Attorney Stevens co-authored Juror Voir Dire in Massachusetts Criminal Practice, published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education ("MCLE"), Inc. in 2015. He completed the National College of DUI Defense eleven times. In 2005, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of the American Association of DWI Trial Lawyers (AADTL). He is currently co-authoring another legal textbook scheduled for release in 2015. He has appeared as a legal analyst on television and radio. He also hosts his own weekly radio show, The Attorney Mark Stevens Show on WSMN Radio AM 1590 in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Attorney Stevens received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire and his Law Degree from the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover, Massachusetts.

Attorney Stevens is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and in the United States Supreme Court. He is a sustaining member of the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
